The Nye Incidents pt. 8

2008-04-18

Authors Whitley Strieber and Craig Spector discussed their new graphic novel The Nye Incidents which concerns mysterious cases of human mutilation, which may be connected to alien abductions. The incidents in the book were inspired by a number of real life events. "Whitley had a story he was too scared to write," Spector said, explaining how he was brought in on the collaborative project. A 2002 case in Pennsylvania that Linda Moulton Howe investigated involved a man whose unusually decomposed body was found in a separate location from his abandoned car, and was associated with a witness seeing a body floated up in a beam of light. Other cases involved homeless men dropped on rooftops in Northern New Jersey, said Strieber. In their book, Spector said he focused on forensic aspects, setting up the question whether a serial killer was imitating aliens or vice versa. UFO researcher Dr. Roger Leir joined the program for a segment and noted that in the New Jersey cases, a medical professional told him the men were cut in a style similar to the cattle mutilations, with large amounts of hemoglobin found on the edges of the wounds. He also discussed the 'Chupa chupa' UFO attacks in Brazil, which took place in 1977. Craig Spector is a bestselling author, editor, screenwriter, and musician, with eleven books published, millions of copies sold, and reprints in nine languages. His fiction has been published by Bantam Books, Harper Collins, Pocket Books, Arbor House, Tor/St. Martins, and others; film and television work includes A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5: THE DREAM CHILD and projects for ABC, NBC, Fox Television, Hearst Entertainment, Davis Entertainment Television, New Line Cinema, Beacon Pictures, and Wonderful World of Disney. Spector is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston MA, and was the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Stealth Press, an Internet-enabled publishing company that specialized in quality hardcover reprints of titles by such authors as Peter Straub, Ray Bradbury, Clive Barker, Peter Atkins, William Nolan, Dennis Etchison, John Shirley, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Spector's novel UNDERGROUND won Le Prix Masterton for best foreign novel of horror for 2008. His feature film adaptation of ANIMALS is slated for a Summer 2008 release from TNC Pictures and Anonymous Content, and stars Marc Blucas, Naveen Andrews, Nicki Aycox and Eva Amurri. Whitley Strieber is the author of over twenty bestselling books, including Communion and Superstorm written with Art Bell. His novels the Grays and 2012: the War for Souls are both being made into films, and the Grays is expected to go into production this year. His nonfiction TV series Alien Intent will begin appearing on A&E later this year, also. His new novel, Midnight, a thriller about nuclear terrorism, will be out in January, and the Nye Incidents will be out in May. Dr. Roger Leir, author of "Aliens and the Scalpel," has been said to be one of the worlds most important leaders in physical evidence research involving the field of Ufology. He and his surgical team have performed nine surgeries on alleged alien abductees. This resulted in the removal of ten separate and distinct objects suspected of being alien implants. These objects have been scientifically investigated by some of the most prestigious laboratories in the world. Their findings have been baffling and some comparisons have been made to meteorite samples. Dr. Leir anticipates performing more surgeries in the future and will investigate the physiological and biological aspects of the abduction phenomenon. He has also formed a non-profit organization for this purpose called "A & S Research Inc." http://www.coasttocoastam.com/ http://www.craigspector.com/ http://www.unknowncountry.com/ http://www.alienscalpel.com/ April 17, 2008
