One is a grammy-winning song by the metal band Metallica. It is the 4th track on the album ...And Justice For All, which was released in 1988. In 1990, "One" won Metallica their first grammy. Before the song starts, there is a 17 second intro which consists of battle sounds. The song starts with Hetfield Clean toned guitar before Kirk Hammett comes in with a clean toned solo. The tempo speeds up after Lars Ulrich's Drums come in and continues until the chorus, where the guitar loses its clean tone and becomes distorted and heavy. Hammett has a second guitar solo before the guitar gradually becomes distorted and heavy until there is the "Machine Gun" Guitar. Until Hammett unleashes a fast and highly praised guitar solo, after which is a technical duel solo by Hetfield & Hammett.
This Song is about the movie "Johnny Got His Gun", In Which the main character Joe Bonham got hit by a land mine a manages to somehow survive, but the explosion took his arms, legs, hair, and made him blind, deaf, and mute.
