SINOPSIS: Joseph Curwen es un brujo al que queman mientras realizaba un conjuro para invocar a unos antiguos dioses malignos. Tras maldecir a los conspiradores de su muerte y morir abrasado por las llamadas 110 años después Charles Dexter Ward, el bisnieto de Curwen, visita Arkham para reclamar la herencia de su antepasado, descubriendo varias deformidades en sus habitantes. Al llegar al castillo Ward se ve poseído por el espíritu de Curwen, quien junto con sus amigos planea completar el conjuro para traer a los dioses malignos de nuevo a la Tierra.
COMENTARIO: Película de terror dirigida en 1963 por Roger Corman, uno de los más grandes directores de terror, que en esta ocasión rompió el género de películas de terror basadas en relatos de Edgar Allan Poe para adaptar una novela de H.P. Lovecraft, "El Caso de Charles Dexter Ward", publicada en 1927.
TRIVIALIDADES: Vincent Price y Debra Paget habían coincidido un año antes en "Historias De Terror"; Price y Elisha Cook Jr. habían trabajado juntos cuatro años antes en la versión original de "House On Haunted Hill"; John Dierkes trabajó con Corman en varias películas más; y en la película se dan cita dos grandes actores de terror, Price y el gran Lon Chaney Jr., "el hombre de las mil caras".
SINOPSIS: Joseph Curwen is a sorcerer who is burnt while he realized a spell to invocate a old evil gods. Behind to curse to the conspirators on his death and to die by the flames 110 years later Charles Dexter Ward, Curwen's great-grandson, visits Arkham to claim the legacy on his ancestor, discovering some deformities in the population. When he arrives at the castle Ward is possessed by the Curwen's spirit, who together his old friends plots to complete the rite to bring to the evil gods to the Earth again.
COMENTARIO: Horror movie directed in 1963 by Roger Corman, one of the great horror directors, who in this time broke the season of Edgar Allan Poe's films he done to adapt a H.P. Lovecraft's history, "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", published in 1927.
TRIVIA: Vincent Price and Debra Paget worked together a year before in "Tales Of Horror"; Price and Elisha Cook Jr. worked togeteher four years before in the "House On Haunted Hill" original version; John Dierkes worked with Corman in some on his movies; in the movie met dos great horror actors, Price and Lon Chaney Jr., "the man with thousand faces".
