Sticky Review - Dawn of the Dead

In anticipation for Valve's new horror shooter, Left 4 Dead, I'm reviewing some of the more classic Zombie movies from recent decades to help people get into the mood. Today, I'll look at the original version of Dawn of the Dead. It's hard not to compare the original version to the new one since the remake was so successful, but personally I prefer the old one. Obviously the new one is a more modern and freak you out sort of movie, but I prefer more of a tension oriented adventure movie like this one. The action is consistently enjoyable and this movie doesn't jerk your emotions around quite as much as other entries. Whenever someone mentions this movie, inevitably a discussion about social commentary ensues. It's obvious the filmmakers were drawing a comparison between mall goers and zombies. There are a lot of other themes you wouldn't expect as well, but I'll leave that for you to discover on your own. I think its reputation is deserved and if you're into horror or adventure movies, consider this during the run up to Halloween.
