Perhaps the most frightening thing about Arch's character is displayed in this part of the film where You get a general idea that He is not very smart but just smart enough to understand when they are thinking and at every turn He seems to be able to think ahead of them or catch up quickly enough to dissolve any plan they might have had for saving themselves and that makes Him a very dangerous psycho.
Arch Hall Jr. based his performace as psycho killer Charlie Tibbs on "Tommy Udo," Richard Widmark's character in Kiss of Death (1947), right down to the giggle.
